Didn't receive Gem rewards after reading a chapter

Not all stories in Episode reward Gems for reading chapters.

Stories that reward Gems for reading will only reward Gems for the first play-through. Subsequent replays will not reward additional Gems.

The stories that reward Gems for reading will have a blue banner on the description page similar to the example below.
